By registering for this website you are agreeing to have your username and password stored on this site. You agree not to decompile or reverse engineer the site and to respect the intellectual property ownership of any materials posted here. Website registration currently is limited to tax staff meeting the criteria for membership in The Breakfast Club as explained further below.
Breakfast Club Membership
The Breakfast Club is a project of Real Tax Policy, Inc., a District of Columbia non-profit corporation, that brings together a bipartisan group of former government tax advisors to promote discussion about current events in U.S. federal tax policy. Under the bylaws of Real Tax Policy, former federal tax policy staff, as defined further below, are eligible to join the Breakfast Club. Former federal tax policy staff includes:
a) tax legislative assistants, legislative directors with tax responsibilities, or chiefs of staff to current or former Senators or Representatives who serve (or served in the past) on the U.S. House Committee on Ways & Means or the U.S. Senate Finance Committee;
b) attorneys and economists who have served as staff for the Joint Committee on Taxation, and attorneys and economists with tax responsibilities who have served as staff for the Joint Economic Committee, the Congressional Research Service, or the Congressional Budget Office.
c) tax staff for House or Senate leadership offices, the House and Senate Budget Committee, or House and Senate Republican and Democratic policy committees; and
d) attorneys and economists who have served in the Executive Branch in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, the Office of the Commissioner of the IRS, the U.S. Department of Justice Tax Division, or the U.S. Treasury Office of Tax Policy.
While website registration at www.realtaxpolicy.com is free and open to tax staff meeting the above criteria, there are annual dues for the Breakfast Club, and membership is limited to former tax staff who are not currently in government service. There is an annual dues requirement, and members are entitled to attend regular breakfasts and other other events hosted by the Breakfast Club.
Membership in the Breakfast Club is specific to the individual and substitute attendance at breakfast events by another member of the same firm employing a Breakfast Club member is not allowed. In addition, members are not permitted to invite guests to breakfast events without written permission from a member of the Board of Directors of RTP which will not normally be granted.
The Breakfast Club strictly adheres to antitrust laws and does not engage in lobbying or seek to influence legislation. We also have a privacy policy that governs our use of any personal information you share with us. You agree to follow the instructions of RTP Board members and to avoid any activities that constitute lobbying on behalf of RTP or any behavior or communication with other members that might violate antitrust laws.
Real Tax Policy, Inc. is a non-profit corporation in the District of Columbia that is tax exempt under IRC Sec. 501(c)(6). Copies of RTP’s IRS tax exemption letter and our latest Form 990 are available on request.
